Mama Rachel Ruto meets Princess Zahra Aga Khan in Nairobi to explore opportunities for collaboration

In a significant move aimed at fostering cooperation and mutual support to advance various initiatives across Kenya, First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto met this morning in Nairobi with Princess Zahra Aga Khan, daughter of His Highness the Aga Khan, Founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

The meeting, which took place at the Sarova Hotel in Nairobi, covered a wide range of issues including women’s economic empowerment, health, education and other critical sectors affecting Kenya’s development landscape.

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto, known for her advocacy and impactful programmes, shared insights from the various initiatives spearheaded by her office and emphasised the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful change.

The Aga Khan Development Network, which has a long history of working with the Government of Kenya, has played a pivotal role in various sectors including industry, tourism, financial services, clean energy, media, health, education, community development and infrastructure.

Princess Zahra Aga Khan’s visit to Kenya comes at a crucial time, as she is currently in the country on a six-day visit to attend the global convocation ceremony of the Aga Khan University, where she serves as a trustee.

She will also visit several of the Aga Khan Development Network’s projects in Kenya, underlining the organisation’s commitment to sustainable development and partnership with the Kenyan government and local communities.

The meeting between First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto and Princess Zahra Aga Khan underscores the importance of collaboration between government agencies, development organisations and private institutions to drive impactful initiatives that contribute to Kenya’s socio-economic development and the well-being of its citizens.
