Mama Doing Good partners with Flame Tree Group to increase access to clean water

Flame Tree Group, the manufacturer of Roto Tanks, has signed a framework agreement with Mama Doing Good to donate 500 tanks to women’s groups across the country. The aim is to increase access to clean water at the household level.

Flame Tree will also facilitate a partnership that will enable a further 5,000 households to access tanks at a reduced cost. This will be done through the Joyful Women Organisation, an economic empowerment programme where women participate in table banking groups to save and borrow money for businesses.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr John Chumo, CEO of Mama Doing Good, said the tanks are essential for household water storage. This improves food security, reduces water-borne diseases and reduces the time women spend fetching water in arid areas.

Heril Bangera, CEO of Flame Tree Group, confirmed the company’s support for the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda. He said the provision of tanks was in line with their climate adaptation and resilience strategy to help Kenyans increase water storage.

In addition, Flame Tree will support Mama Doing Good’s environmental and climate action plan. This includes tree planting and the creation of green businesses for youth and women.
