Mama Rachel Ruto urges religious institutions to partner with government to find solutions for youth and women

The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, has urged faith-based institutions to partner with the government to create livelihood opportunities for the youth and unemployed women.

The First Lady was speaking during the 10th anniversary of the Gospel Assembly Chapel in Kisii Town.

Mama Rachel Ruto praised the church’s Member Empowerment Programme, which provides grants to unemployed youth and women to start businesses.

The church had previously set up a shoe factory to produce quality leather shoes for school children, creating more than 20 permanent jobs.

The First Lady also urged faith-based institutions to inform young people about various government opportunities available to them, singling out the higher education loan and grant applications launched by the Ministry of Education this week, which target universities and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions.

Mama Rachel Ruto also addressed students at Kisii School where she commiserated with the institution following the loss of one of its students.
