First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on Monday evening joined religious leaders and representatives for the launch of the YouVersion Bible App Kenyan Hub at a Nairobi hotel, marking a significant milestone in digital discipleship.
The Bible App has gained widespread popularity in Kenya, offering Scripture in English, Kiswahili, and several local languages. It is especially embraced by young people, featuring daily devotionals, audio Bibles, and offline reading capabilities that make God’s Word accessible anytime and anywhere.
“When we put God first, as families, as leaders, and as a nation, we strengthen our moral foundation and nurture resilient homes,” Mrs. Ruto said.
She emphasized that technology is increasingly being used not to distract, but to disciple—connecting believers to Scripture in meaningful and transformative ways.
Mrs. Ruto congratulated YouVersion on 17 years of global impact and the remarkable milestone of over one billion Bible App installs worldwide, including more than 19 million in Kenya alone.
“The launch of the Kenyan Hub is a powerful signal that Africa is not only receiving the Gospel, but helping shape the future of global discipleship—amplifying our voices, our languages, and our lived experiences to carry God’s Word to the nations,” she added.
She noted that Kenya is a nation that prays and turns to Scripture not only in times of crisis, but in conviction, underscoring that the launch represents more than an expansion—it is a reaffirmation of faith in the digital age.
