Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady Of The United States arrives in Kenya for a 3-day visit

Dr. Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States of America arrived in Kenya on Friday for a 3-day visit, accompanied by her granddaughter, Naomi Biden.

She was received by Her Excellency Mama Rachel Ruto, The First Lady of the Republic of Kenya and Hon. Rebecca Miano, the Cabinet Secretary, East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) and Regional Development. 

Dr. Biden later proceeded to State House Nairobi, for a private meeting with Mama Rachel Ruto.Her visit seeks to strengthen partnerships between the two countries. 

Dr. Biden will focus on women economic empowerment projects and will visit the joyful women program, where she will get a chance to experience table banking; a transformational economic empowerment model championed by Her Excellency Mama Rachel Ruto. 

“Dr. Jill Biden’s visit is significant in building cooperation and empowering women in Kenya. This visit exemplifies our two countries’ longstanding relationship, as well as the shared commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment and supporting climate action,” Mama Rachel Ruto said.

The Joyful Women Program table banking model is active in 39 out of 47 counties in Kenya and aims to expand to all 47 Counties.
